Kommetdieding brother shines at Premier Sales
A full-brother to Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young sire KOMMETDIEDING (Elusive Fort) proved one of the star attractions on the first day of the Premier Yearling Sale.
The Oldlands Stud consigned colt, who has been named One Point Champion, was knocked down to Kenneth Pillay for R2.1 million at Thursday’s session.
One Point Champion (Lot 114) is out of Listed Gardenia Handicap runner up ADORABLE (Captain Al), a three-parts sister to triple G1 winner CAPTAIN AMERICA (Captain Al).
Adorable, who has produced five winners, ranks as the dam of not only Kommetdieding but classy filly KOMMETJIE STORM (Elusive Heart), who was sold for R3.2 million at the 2023 National Yearling Sale.
To date, Kommetjie Storm has won or been placed in three of four starts, with the filly having contested the G2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas last time out.
Remarkably, Adorable’s outstanding sire Captain Al was broodmare sire of the three top lots sold at Thursday’s sale, with Captain Al’s dual G1 winning daughter SNOWDANCE the dam of the sales’ R9 million Vercingetorix colt.
The brilliant Kommetdieding, whose first crop are yearlings in 2026, defeated champions GOT THE GREENLIGHT (Gimmethegreenlight), DO IT AGAIN (Twice Over) and RAINBOW BRIDGE (Ideal World) when he won the 2021 G1 Vodacom Durban July, and such stars as JET DARK (Trippi), DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE (Twice Over) and PUERTO MANZANO (Seek Again) when victorious in the 2022 G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met.
